The Sudbury Valley School Experience, 3rd edition
Published in Paperback by Sudbury Valley School Pr (01 January, 1992)
Average review score:

The Future of EducationWe're currently in a paradigm shift in education, and this book documents how Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, Massachusetts has reacted quite successfully to that shift. They have created a school where "the inmates are in charge," meaning the kids control everything about the school...and do so very successfully. For over 30 years, kids have run the school and gotten a better education as a result that they could get at any other school. A remarkable book, and a remarkable story. If you're into the idea that kids need to be controlled, guided, and "exposed to new ideas," you won't like this book. But if you recognize that kids are their own best guides to learning what they need most, when they need it most, you'll recognize everything in this book. A real gem! Also, check out _Free At Last_ by the same authors.
very interesting thoughtsI think everyone should read this book to keep an open mind about schooling.

Sustainable Architecture White Papers
Published in Paperback by Earth Pledge Foundation (February, 2001)
Average review score:

Great Green ResourceShort papers on many different topics concerning green building, sustainable design, and renewable energy. Top experts in the field offer advice, experience, and resources.
The voices of sustainable designThe Earth Pledge Foundation's Sustainable Architecture White Papers brings together leading voices---of architects, designers, planners, educators, manufacturers, and journalists---in a handsome, diminutive volume. The essayists are each a part of the sustainable design movement; some have been in the trenches for years, such as Randy Croxton and Kirsten Childs, James Wines, and Bill Browning, and others are household names, such as William McDonough (writing with his chemist collaborator Michael Braungart). Some address the big picture and others deconstruct the micro components of the effort, such as non-toxic paints and office furniture. The volume includes an interview with Samuel Mockbee, who founded Auburn University's Rural Studio, and whose clear-eyed approach to how architecture fits into communities is remarkably elegant and simple. "The smart architect thinks rationally about a combination of issues including sustainability, durability, longevity, appropriate materials, and sense of place," he says. "The challenge is finding the balance between environmental considerations and economic constraints." What's important about a diverse collection of essays like this now is that it comes when the movement is breaking into the mainstream in a more complete way than it has in the past. Sustainability is being addressed, increasingly, as something that involves not just the physical but also the social, institutional, and spiritual aspects of life on earth. This volume is a valuable guide to that breakthrough, from the practical to the visionary.

Swept Away (White Dove Romance, No 6)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (January, 1998)
Average review score:

*~* You will love it *~*You will love Getting to know Scott and Natalie they are the most outstanding couple i have ever read. This was a great conclusion to the end of the seris but i wished there was more to them. i couldnt beleive when i found out that this was the end i want to see what will happen to RUTHIE and STICK they have gotten so close together and with Scott and Natalie. They all have a great love that can never end. I wish there was more to this series.
You'll be "swept away" by the awesome conclusion!(Yeah, that was obvious; sorry, it was also irresistible.) This was a wonderful conclusion to a wonderful series--I can't believe I'm the first to review it. I would recommend all the White Dove books to any teenage girl--not a "bad apple" in the bunch! This final book does a great job wrapping up without telling you everything, leaving just a little to your imagination. Many warm thanks to Yvonne Lehman and I hope that she writes another series soon! I wish, though, there had been one more book in this series--the final pages open a whole new storyline that was definitely resolved *far* too quickly. (Won't say any more, other than it has to do with memories--I don't want to give anything away.) Oh well--it was just a minor disappointment, and certainly not enough to knock my overall series' rating down from five zealous stars.

Taboo : Love & Lust in Black & White
Published in Paperback by SpazzyJazz Publications (01 March, 2001)
Average review score:

Examination of beliefsStimulating and disturbing ... this book will make you think about equality and hypocrisy in our society. Outstanding text on a "taboo" subject with powerful imagery. Not for the faint of heart, "or mother".
WOWI FEEL it!! Taboo stimulates dialogue. This is poetry and prose at its BEST with its roots firmly dug into both the silent truths of a divided nation and the universal threads of the joy and pain of true love. Taboo challenges the reader and leaves them questioning their own beliefs. This is powerful stuff!!!

Tackle Box (Anhinga Prize for Poetry Series)
Published in Paperback by Anhinga Press (01 September, 2002)
Average review score:

A poetic gem!If you love language and poetry, you will love Patti Smith's work. This gem cuts to the quick. Smith's work is alive with humor, insight and honesty. What a gem! Don't hestitate. Order it now. Savor it always. She's amazing.
If you care about poetry . . .If there's a better poet writing in English than Patti White, I don't know who he or she is. These poems range in subject matter from classical mythology (Demeter, Circe) to rustic trivia (a dog's heartworm, a rain crow's nest) and are animated by a relentless sense of wonder; White pursues psychic connections that have no right to make sense yet somehow do--between a business school and an order of nuns, between lost cats and beat poets. The poem "Man 'O War Motel" is worth the price of the book by itself, a litany of violent death and grotesque loss that wanders into a meditation on Nabokov's Lolita. It is a heartbreaking, unforgettable work. "The Love Zombies" is almost as good, as is "The Tin Man." To paraphrase White, these are poems "that last." Read them for yourself if you care about poetry.

The Theory of Monetary Institutions
Published in Paperback by Blackwell Publishers (May, 1999)
Average review score:

this book is worth the price-This is indeed an interesting book, the only topic really missing being the debate on competitive banking under 100% reserves versus fractional reserve free banking. Chapters on, among other topics, dynamic inconsistency, monetary rules and competitive supply of fiat-type money-with a lucid critique of the Klein-Hayek model-are absolutely excellent. The math is accessible although at a serious level.
A Great Comprehensive BookA great book. It is very comprehensive and written in a simple way (regarding the complexity of the themes it deals with). The investigation is very objective, it uses sound theoretical analysis and different mathematical models (which he explains in relatively simple terms), contrasting them with the historical evidence and empirical data. It treats the history and development of money (from commodity money to fiat money), and monetary institutions, doing an exceptional analysis of the gold standard, its costs and benefits. It also analyzes the role of Central Bank's in money and banking, and uses various models used to try to explain the Central Bank's behavior, according to different goals that Central Banks may have. Finally, it discusses alternative monetary proposals from Friedman to Yeager, with its pros and cons. In conclusion, a great book to update and deepen your knowledge about money and banking.

Tiger and Tom
Published in Paperback by AB Publishing (May, 1993)
Average review score:

Outstanding book for familiesWe have been reading this book to our three sons every night, and each story is absolutely wonderful. They seem to have been written in the late 1800's, and are full of strong Christian morals and ethics, with wonderful lessons. While the language is occasionally a bit old, it builds vocabulary and is a refreshing reminder of how well people in this country spoke not too long ago. We have bookshelves full of good books, but this one is always my first choice for quality family time!
Tiger and Tom an excellent character building resource. The stories in Tiger and Tom are interesting and exciting without being full of the twaddle that newer publications have. While the language is sometimes archaic, my 3 young boys had no trouble understanding and enjoying the stories. All the stories are about boys and the sometimes sticky situations in which they find themselves. White does not shrink from telling the natural and frequently unpleasant consequences that happen to boys who do the wrong thing. These stories would be of benefit to anyone working to raise young men of high ethical character - something our country is starving for!

Too Nice
Published in Paperback by Magination (April, 2002)
Average review score:

A must read for girlsAmy, the main character in this chapter book knows that being "too nice" feels rotten. When she learns how to be nice to herself too, she feels better and so do the people around her.
Thank you Ms. Pelligrino for writing a kid appealing assertiveness training manual for girls!
I wish I'd had this book when I was a young girl who thought I had to be nice in order to be liked. The book would have helped me learn to say "no" earlier and easier. I bought the book for myself and have shared it with friends. They've bought it for themselves, their daughters and granddaughters!
If you know a female, of any age, who suffers from the 'disease to please' buy this book for them. They'll think you're "just right" nice.
"Too Nice" Is Just RightHere's a chapter book that takes on the problem of being too nice. Can you be too nice? Yes! And sometimes people will take advantage of you for that. Ms. Pellegrino's story shows how a young girl named Amy learns stand up for herself and still keep her friends. The message is gently woven into the story and illustrated with real-life situations kids experience at school and at home. Young readers will come away with a new feeling of self-confidence.

Tornado Alley (White Dove Romances, No 1)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (January, 1996)
Average review score:

Awesome book!!I really loved it. Any book about Christian romances is a must have for me. I loved how it all turned out. I'm saving my money right now so that I can buy the second book.
A wonderful, moving novel!I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down! Natalie, the main character, is my hero! This book encourages Christian faith and especially sexual abstinence. The White Dove group, started by Natalie's church youth group and encouraging sexual abstinence, has to do with a lot of the book. "Tornado Alley" is suspenseful, witty, and very enlightening, while at the same time romantic. I heartily reccomend this book
